This course is designed to provide the paralegal with mastery of the fundamental tools and skills involved in discovery practice in both California and federal courts. You will explore the role of discovery in litigation, as well as understand the statutes governing discovery practice.
This course examines the principles that regulate the process of proving facts at trial. Until recent years, the regulating rules were found in the traditions of the common law. Many jurisdictions now codify the law of evidence, and consequently the course involves extensive work with a modern code known as the Federal Rules of Evidence; California Rules of Evidence will be reviewed as well.
This is a Live Online Synchronous course, with web-based class lectures scheduled to meet at published dates and times. UCSD Extended Studies operates in Pacific Standard Time and therefore all class meetings and deadlines are held to Pacific Standard Time (PST).
